LINDA Cantan is bringing the luck of the Irish to the new Bendigo Hospital project.
Originally from Dublin, Ms Cantan has called Melbourne home for 20 years and has been busy travelling between the city and Bendigo as the new hospital takes shape.
"I'm the transaction manager on the project," Ms Cantan said.
"During the tender process I was managing the tender process and now it means I look after various aspects of the project - a lot of the commercial and legal aspects.
"I'm also the state's representative on a number of different things.
"There's a project control group, there's a steering committee on which I sit so I guess I'm part of the team that then monitors the progress of the project."
Ms Cantan has regular contact with Examplar Health and is continually monitoring how things are progressing.
"The project is going really well," she said.
"You can see construction on site now and the design is progressing well.
"I also monitor things like the hotel and all those sorts of things.
"Obviously the hotel's gone really well and you can now see the building at the front of the site.
"Childcare construction is due to start shortly so everything's progressing really well."
Ms Cantan was in Bendigo on Monday and toured the site.
"I come on site probably a little bit less now than I used to do but I'm certainly up at least once a month," she said.
"On Monday I had a good walk around the site and had a look at what's going on.
"It's very exciting."
Ms Cantan said it was great to play a part in such an important project.
"I've done a number of public and private partnerships before but I'm very happy to be involved in the hospital project because I think that's delivering a real community asset," she said.

"I know a lot of people who live in the Bendigo and Castlemaine areas so I've certainly been talking to them a lot and everyone's very pleased they're getting a new hospital.
"Having spent a lot of time in the preparatory stages for the project, and getting lost a lot walking around the existing buildings, I think it will make a huge difference for a lot of people.
"It will be great."
