The comment comes after a vehicle carrying a tall load broke a powerline in the main street on Tuesday.
Bridgewater Fire Brigade captain Tim Ferguson said he would like to see the powerlines placed underground.
Lyall Johnson said it would require the distributor to go through the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.
"They would have to assess whether the cost of (moving the lines) underground stacked up under the regulation they govern," he said.
"(The ACCC) works on the cheapest cost model.
"It would cost the consumer more and impact on their bills, so they are very unlikely to pass it through.
"It would be cheaper to keep the powerlines overhead and will produce the same results."
