WEATHER
A hot day with a top of 36 degrees. Smoky in the morning and afternoon, light afternoon winds.
Also extreme UV index for most of the day. Remember to slip, slop, slap if you're out under the hole in the ozone layer.
Today is not currently a Total Fire Ban day.
Fire update
Emergency warnings remain in place for Wallan, Darraweit Guim, Kilmore East, Kilmore and Bylands but much of the rest of the state has been downgraded to 'watch and act' and 'advice'.
At least 19 fires are still burning out of control in Victoria, including the Mickleham Road one, which has already burnt through more than 16,000 hectares and destroyed at least 12 homes.
The fire is travelling north from Wallan towards Bylands and Kilmore.
Schapelle watch
Schapelle Corby is free.
But TV audiences were denied seeing her reaction to being freed after nine years in jail, as Ms Corby was completely masked by elaborate head coverings as she walked out of prison.
She was shuttled from Kerobokan Prison to a luxury villa and spa, with a chaotic media scrum hot at her heels.
Rumour has it that Ms Corby and her family have signed a million-dollar deal with Channel Seven's Sunday Night program, so we'll get to hear from her eventually.
TRAINS
The Bendigo service is operating as a coach from Southern Cross Station to Bendigo due to damage to the tracks from the fires.
Check the V/Line website for more information.
