Good morning Bendigo. These chilly mornings are deceptive! For those who had their car heaters on, don't get too excited - today is predicted to reach 36 degrees. Another hot summer day.
A hot day with a top of 36 degrees. Smoky in the morning and afternoon, light afternoon winds.
Also extreme UV index for most of the day. Remember to slip, slop, slap if you're out under the hole in the ozone layer.
Today is not currently a Total Fire Ban day.
Emergency warnings remain in place for Wallan, Darraweit Guim, Kilmore East, Kilmore and Bylands but much of the rest of the state has been downgraded to 'watch and act' and 'advice'.
At least 19 fires are still burning out of control in Victoria, including the Mickleham Road one, which has already burnt through more than 16,000 hectares and destroyed at least 12 homes.
The fire is travelling north from Wallan towards Bylands and Kilmore.
Schapelle Corby is free.
But TV audiences were denied seeing her reaction to being freed after nine years in jail, as Ms Corby was completely masked by elaborate head coverings as she walked out of prison.
She was shuttled from Kerobokan Prison to a luxury villa and spa, with a chaotic media scrum hot at her heels.
Rumour has it that Ms Corby and her family have signed a million-dollar deal with Channel Seven's Sunday Night program, so we'll get to hear from her eventually.
The Bendigo service is operating as a coach from Southern Cross Station to Bendigo due to damage to the tracks from the fires.
If it is your birthday today have a great day. I hope you get lots of pressies.
You share your birthday with outspoken former governor of Alaska, reality star, and soccer mum Sarah Palin, who made a big splash on the world stage with her 2008 bid for the US Vice Presidency. She famously thought that Africa was a country.
If this fact disturbs you a little, fear not. You also share a birthday with Jennifer Aniston, whose role as Rachel Green on Friends from 1994 to 2004 earned her an Emmy Award, a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award.
