A single mother and her two young children were away when the blaze broke out at their brick veneer home at 12.40pm.
Six fire crews attended the scene, on the corner of Haires Lane and Valley Road, working to extinguish the blaze.
UPDATE 2.10PM: A Glenhope family home has been destroyed by fire.
Firefighters remain on scene at the corner of Haires Lane and Valley Road, after the blaze broke out at about 12.40pm today.
A State Control Centre spokeswoman said a fire investigator would work to determine the cause.
"The house was fully involved on arrival and there was a grass fire that ignited as a result of the house fire as well," she said.
"About one hectare of land was burnt and the structure was totally lost."
The house fire was controlled at about 1.05pm, and the grass fire was fully extinguished by crews at 1.45pm.
No one was inside the house at the time.
EARLIER: A FIRE has broken out at Glenhope this afternoon.
Six CFA crews are currently on route to the corner of Haires Lane and Valley Road, after the fire was discovered at 12.40pm.
A State Control Centre spokeswoman said the fire was still going but was controlled.
"There was a column of smoke seen and crews have been called to the scene," she said.
