More than 2500 letters have been sent out to residents in flood-affected areas seeking input.
The first stage of the project looked at the area around Epsom and Huntly and the new stage will focus on central Bendigo.
Member for Northern Victoria Damian Drum said flooding could have a big impact on the city.
“The experiences of 2010, 2011 and 2012 showed that floods can cost Victorian communities tens of millions of dollars in clean up, recovery and lost business opportunity, as well as take an emotional toll,” he said.
“The Victorian coalition government is committed to working with communities throughout northern Victoria, including Bendigo, to increase flood intelligence and develop local management strategies.
Consultation sessions will be held at the Bendigo Town Hall on Monday 24 February and Wednesday 26 February between 1pm-8pm.
Further community consultation for other areas of the City is will be staged over the following months.
Appointments can be booked by contacting North Central CMA on 1800 282 944.
The study has been funded by the Victorian government, federal government and City of Greater Bendigo.
