Council has closed a section of Baynton Road, between Sidonia Road and the Burke and Wills Track, where a large number of trees and branches have fallen overnight. Sidonia Road should also be avoided.
Council’s works crew and local emergency services are busily clearing this section of road, as well as other affected areas throughout the shire, to make the roads safe for traffic.
“At this stage, for safety reasons we ask that motorists avoid the areas of Pipers Creek and Baynton
until further notice, due to severe wind damage and trees on roads,” director of assets
and operations Dale Thornton said.
“There may be further temporary road closures in other parts of the shire as more information comes
to hand, so we will provide more updates to local media, via our Emergency Facebook page and on
our website,” he said.
