Heat puts bowls in doubt

THIS Saturday's searing heat is likely to force the resumption of the Bendigo Bowls Division pennant season to be cancelled.

Under BBD heat policy rules, if the forecast temperature is 38 degrees or above, play is called off.

Bendigo is set to swelter again, with Saturday's forecast temperature for 40 degrees.

Round 11 of the pennant season is scheduled for Saturday, with the division one games: Golden Square v Castlemaine; Eaglehawk v Kangaroo Flat; South Bendigo v Bendigo; and Bendigo East v Inglewood.

Friday's midweek pennant matches are also in serious doubt because of the heat.

The midweek pennant heat policy is for games to be abandoned if the forecast is 36 degrees or more.

Friday's temperature is forecast for 41 degrees.

And there's also unlikely to be any play in Sunday's Provincial Championship at Bendigo East, featuring the Bendigo, Ballarat, Geelong and Wimmera associations.

Sunday's forecast is 43 degrees for Bendigo.
