Temperatures will creep up to 38 degrees on Thursday before hovering in the low 40s until Sunday night.
Anyone who works outdoors is reminded to remain hydrated and avoid working during the hottest part of the day.
Hot weather also brings with it extreme fire danger so the City of Greater Bendigo is calling on people to refresh their plans for the fire danger period.
People should also drink plenty of water, stay out of the sun during the hottest part of the day, avoid strenuous activity and watch, read or listen to news updates about the heatwave.
