John David Vella and his co-accused Wyatt Rhodes, both from Rockbank, appeared in the Bendigo Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
Vella has been charged with affray and recklessly causing injury and on Tuesday sought a sentence indication while Rhodes, 19, asked for an adjournment because he was not represented by a lawyer.
Prosecuting, Sergeant David Somerton handed up a victim impact statement to Magistrate Robert Kumar.
The court heard Vella was at the Lake Eppalock holiday Park on December 29, 2012.
"He was requested by the victim to stop driving his car on a path where children were playing," Sergeant Somerton said.
The court heard later that day an argument unfolded after Vella again drove on the path.
Vella and Rhodes then approached the alleged victim, one grabbing him from behind and the other from in front.
The man ended up on the ground and a wrestle broke out with Rhodes allegedly kicking the victim in the head.
Witnesses were concerned the force of the kick would cause brain injury to the victim.
"The accused and co-accused continued to argue with witnesses and bystanders," Sergeant Somerton said.
"Bystanders were upset and some had to be comforted.
"There were a number of children in the vicinity."
Vella's defence counsel Luke Docherty said his client was a 52-year-old truck driver with five adult children who all lived at home with him.
Magistrate Robert Kumar questioned why a 52-year-old man would want to get involved in such an incident.
"It's very unusual," he said.
Magistrate Kumar indicated Vella was likely to face a substantial fine and said Rhodes could be in more "strife".
The men will reappear in the Bendigo Magistrates' Court on February 18.
