THE School Sport Australia 12-under cricket championships started on turf wickets across Bendigo on Saturday.
Conditions were ideal as the boys and girls teams took to the field.
States and territories vying for the Ricky Ponting Shield in the boys competition are New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory, Queensland, South Australia, Northern Territory and Victoria.
The Grahame Barrett Shield will be awarded to the girls champions.
New South Wales, South Australia, Australian Capital Territory, Queensland, Victoria and Victoria Invitational are contesting the girls matches.
