The Steven Lake-trained galloper was beaten a short neck by Vihanna Victory in the Chandler Macleod Handicap (2500m).
Ridden by Brad Rawiller, Master's Degree took up the lead from barrier one.
Rawiller set a comfortable tempo out in front, with Vihanna Victory sitting on his outside.
Rawiller lifted the tempo at the 600m mark and by the home turn Master's Degree ($4.20 fav.) and Vihanna Victory ($10) had set up a handy break on their rivals.
The duo settled down to fight out the race, with Vihanna Victory's two-and-a-half kilogram pull in the weights a telling factor.
The first two horses finished three-and-a-half lengths clear of third-placed Bruntwood ($6.50).
While Rawiller had to settle for second place aboard Master's Degree, the Bendigo jockey has enjoyed a superb run of form in the past few days.
From Boxing Day onwards, Rawiller has had 21 rides for six wins and six placings.
He rode a winning double at Caulfield on Boxing Day and followed up with one winner at Friday night's Cranbourne meeting.
His city success continued at Moonee Valley on Saturday when he partnered the Darren Weir-trained King Buddy to victory.
Rawiller then added a winning double to his name at Mornington on Saturday.
Rawiller has every chance to add more winners to his name at Ararat on Monday where he has six strong rides.
