It's been 10 years since McHarg played for the Bendigo Tennis Association at regional level.
On that occasion the right-hander was in the 12-under section at Wangaratta.
The three-day titles start on Friday at Creswick's grasscourt complex.
McHarg will team with Jamie Brown, Danielle Bowles and Tova Penno in the open division.
On Friday, McHarg was working on his forehand and backhand drives and serve during a session with rising star Jayden Blencowe.
"Forehand is the strength of my game," said McHarg.
"Backhand is something I keep working at to improve."
Championship format is singles, doubles and mixed doubles. Matches will be best-of-three sets.
There will be contests in the open, 45-plus, 22-under, 18-under, 16-under, 14-under, and 12-under divisions.
This season McHarg has played a key role in BLTC Metro being third on the BTA's premier league ladder.
The 22-year-old is in his second season in the league's top flight.
Metro is a vastly different line-up to the one which took to the Bendigo Bank complex hardcourts or Barnard Street grasscourts in the 2012-13 season.
A new-look Metro line-up includes Tamara Wright and Rochelle Blencowe, Grant and Ryan Leader.
By the end of next weekend, McHarg and his Bendigo team-mates aim to be leading all rivals from associations dotted across the state.
