Summer reading heats up

THE Goldfields Library is encouraging Bendigonians to get lost in a book this summer.

The Summer Read program is on again.

The initiative focuses on books set in Victoria, about Victorians or by Victorian authors.

The program, run in partnership with the State Library of Victoria and the Public Libraries Network the program aims  to celebrate writing.

Goldfields Libraries chairman Rod Fyffe said the Summer Read program gives the people the chance to discover new books.

“It doesn’t matter if you’re at home or on holidays, summer is the perfect time to pick up a book and read," he said.

The City of Greater Bendigo councillor said there was something for everyone in this year's reading selection, including crime, non-fiction, literary fiction and memoirs.

The Summer Read program began on December 18 and will conclude on February 16.
