THE gift-giving season is coming to a head and Bendigo retailers have been run off their feet with the demand for popular gifts.

Despite all the new toys on the market, retailers say Barbie dolls and Lego are still among the best sellers for Christmas.
Topping the list of the most popular toys were Nerf guns, Peppa Pig toys, Lego, Barbie dolls and interactive toys.
High-end perfumes, electronic tablets and clothing were on the list of popular gifts for the older recipients.
Toyworld franchise owner Scott Mills said there were many favourites, but Lego was always a popular gift for boys and girls.
“Other big sellers are Flutterbye fairies for girls and Ugglys toys for the boys,” he said.
In the other gift categories Myer store manager Michael Watson said their most popular entertainment item was the Apple iPad Air.
“Without a doubt, the iPad Air is a clear favourite this year,” he said.
Mr Watson said special fragrances by Armani and Chanel had come in a close second.
"Our special fragrances and high-end colognes have all been really popular for gifts," he said.
Myer's most popular childrens' toys were Lego, dolls and toy cars.
Surf shop Skin Ski and Surf has also had a great season and sold out of some items in the lead-up to Christmas.
Employee Hayley Kapperer said Havaianas footwear and all brands of sunglasses had been big sellers in the past few weeks.
“We’ve sold out of Globe socks again and again - they’re very popular,” she said.
“All the Havaianas brand thongs have been selling really well too - they’re great summer stocking fillers.”
Target manager Amy Kenyon said their biggest sellers included Peppa Pig and Nerf guns.
Clothing and confectionary were among the most popular gifts for Kris Kringle gifts.
“Everyone loves chocolate for Christmas and new summer clothing has been selling really well," she said.
Staff at Mr Good Times in Bath Lane said the Playmobil toys and Sylvanian families sets had been popular.
"We don't really sell mainstream stuff you'd see in department stores," he said.
“We cater for younger kids and toddlers and we’re selling a bit of everything."
