BENDIGO fire brigade is asking residents to be aware of today's total fire ban after a suspicious fire was lit on Thursday morning in Eaglehawk.

Senior station officer John Lane said firefighters were called to a unit on Sailors Gully Road about 2.30am.
"Rubbish was on fire in the backyard of the unit ," he said.
Police are investigating the cause of the fire.
Mr Lane said the fire was being treated as suspicious.
Meanwhile, firefighters were called out to a grass fire at the back of Old Gillies factory in Bendigo at 7pm on Wednesday.
Mr Lane said the fire was not suspicious.
