The witness said he was turning right from Barnard Street on View Street and was just missed by the silver Commodore.
According to the witness, the Commodore ran a red light and hit the black Jeep that was travelling along Barnard Street.
The force of the crash spun the Commodore 180 degrees while the Jeep stopped on the footpath in front of the Park View Hotel.
The vehicles have been removed but CFA crews were still cleaning the intersection.
No one was serious injured.
3.30pm: Police are directing traffic around a two car collision at the corner of View and Barnard streets.
CFA and tow trucks are clearing the scene.
The collision occurred between a silver Holden commodore and a black Jeep.
It is unknown if anyone was seriously injured in the crash but paramedics are on the scene.
EARLIER: EMERGENCY crews have been called to a collision in Barnard Street.
Traffic is being diverted away from the area.
