The Huntly-North Epsom middle and lower-order dug in during the Power's 9-198 against Bendigo at Poyser Motors Oval.
It was looming as another disappointing batting performance from the Power when it fell to 6-86.
However, the Huntly-North Epsom fightback was well led by top-scorer Liam Mottram (41, eight fours) in his debut first XI innings for the Power, Sam Johnston (37 n.o.), coach Quinton Bentley (19) and Thomas Wilson (17).
Bentley and Mottram teamed for the best partnership of the innings, putting on 51 for the seventh wicket, while Wilson and Johnston added a valuable 37 for the eighth wicket.
Earlier, Scott Dole gave the Goers the upper hand.
Dole dismissed Josh Collinson (15), captain Linc McRae (0) and Brett Elvey (13) to leave the Power 3-47.
Dole only bowled seven overs, finishing with figures of 3-12, including four maidens.
Mark Ryan (2-38) and Tom Kirk (2-31) were the other multiple wicket-takers for the Goers, who bowled 27 maidens in their 85 overs.
Wicket-keeper Liam Gaskell took four catches.
6:56pm: Plenty of highlights around the BDCA today.
Don't have the details from the Huntly-Bendigo game, but elsewhere around the league, centuries to Strathfieldsaye's Ben Devanny (128) and Eaglehawk's Jason Abbott (101).
White Hills leg-spinner Jake Foley took 7-84 and Strathdale's Cameron Taylor took five wickets against Sandhurst and tonight is 46 not out.
And Golden Square's Darren Clutton was on fire with the ball.
Clutton had four early wickets for Square as it defended a score of 149 against Bendigo United.
Clutton's four wickets were the prized scalps of Matt Pinniger, Heath Behrens, Ben Gunn and Bryan Vance.
6:53pm: Don't have a confirmed final score, but it looks like Huntly-North Epsom got itself up to around 200 against Bendigo.
6:34pm: Eaglehawk was bowled out for 188 by White Hills, of which Jason Abbott made 101.
Anothher 7-wicket haul for a White Hills player, with leggie Jake Foley taking 7-84.

In reply, Bendigo United is 2-16 in the 11th over.

Could this be heading to another of those classic Square-BUCCS finishes next week that we've seen so often?
5:14pm: Jason Abbott's innings just come to an end for Eaglehawk.
He made 101 off 173 before caught behind off Travis Colley. Batted for 186 minutes. The score is 7-171 in the 54th over.

2:39pm: Bendigo has taken control against Huntly.
The Power are now 3-50, with Scott Dole having taken all three wickets for the Goers.
Plenty of pressure on the Huntly-North Epsom batting line-up, which has struggled this season.

No sign of any pads yet on Howard, but looking forward later on to seeing how he is greeted at the wicket by his former team-mates.
The two Suns wickets have been taken by Jacob DeAraugo, who at one stage had 2-0 off three overs.
He now has 2-23 off eight.

After 18 overs the Jets are 2-45. The batsmen in are Ben Devanny and Hamish Schumacher, who are both going along OK.
AFTERNOON all.
Not the best day for cricket with a bit of rain around.
I believe the Eaglehawk-White Hills game at Canterbury Park has been delayed because of a damp area on the wicket.
Hopefully, there has been no other interruptions to play on day one of round six.
Missed the preview in today's paper, here it is:
