The brewery only started selling beer in July and is the first substantial brewery in Bendigo for 130 years.
Brookes took runner up in the People’s Choice Award at the event, which saw 800 beer enthusiasts turned out to taste and vote on beers.
Well known craft beer labels such as Woodend's Holgate, Southern Bay, Moo Brew and Bridge Road were among the 24 Victorian breweries that were also in the running.
"We didn’t really know what expect," Brookes Beer co-founder Doug Brooke said. "We just wanted to make a few contacts and have people say a few good things about our beer.''
Mr Brooke and partner Mel Church went through a tree-change this year when they moved from Melbourne to Bendigo and set up the brewery. Previously, Mr Brooke's experience involved making home brew on his stove top.
