The dedicated alpaca breeder always brings her finest animals over for the Australian Alpaca Association National Show and Sale.
She said it is worth four days of travel to show her Banksia Park stud animals at the most prestigious alpaca show in Australia.
Mahlon Hotker from Kallaroo Park had a more modern approach when travelling from Albany, Western Australia – catching the plane.
“We sent the animals on a truck, which took 46 hours, then flew over here,” he said.
“We’ve been doing it every year since 2005.”
Over 680 alpacas will be on show over the four-day event, which starts today.
Show co-convener Steve Pate said people can see some of the best alpacas in the world in Bendigo.
“The Australian standard is the highest in the world,” he said.
“We have the biggest herd outside of South America and we apply the same technology as they do to sheep genetics and breeding.”
This is the 20th national show and sale, celebrating winners over the past 20 years and advances in alpaca breeding.
