The Lansell Room at the All Seasons Hotel was packed for the 18-bout card.
Fights for Silver Gloves glory drew three boxers from New Zealand, one from Canberra, and many from pockets across Victoria.
Tournament promoter and trainer at the Golden Square-based Hit Factory, Danniel Burton was rapt with the response from the boxing fraternity.
"The support we have had is fantastic," Burton said.
"The original card had 22, but some were scratched because of injuries or unavailability. To have an 18-bout program in Bendigo was an incredible response."
Hit Factory was represented by eight boxers and finished the day on three wins.
"Many of the bouts were well-fought and just a couple of points in it," said Burton.
Many contenders for Olympic or Commonwealth Games selection competed on the Victorian Amateur Boxing Association card.
Boxers from as far afield as Coleraine, Swan Hill, Seaford and Surrey Hills competed.
Supabox in Garsed Street, Bendigo, and the California Gully-based Bendigo Amateur Boxing Club threw their support into the event.
The Lynden Hosking-trained Ewen Jones took on Jack Game in the 75kg division. Jones earned the fight of the day award.
A great contest in the 81kg division between the Burton-trained Brett Bransgrove and Pat Connolly-trained Blake Broughton from Bendigo ABC ended in a win for the Hit Factory boxer.
Bendigo's Carly Salmon, now based in Surrey Hills, scored a unaminous points decision against Canberra's Adriana Smith.
Hit Factory's Jordy Garland took on reigning Victorian champion Lachie Higgins in the junior 63kg class.
Garland's courage to box on after injuring his arm in the final round was outstanding.
"I heard the slap when their arms locked. I could see the pain on Jordy's face and knew something was not right," Burton said.
"Jordy had an X-ray and has fractured his ulna, high near his elbow. He boxed the last half of the final round in great pain. Incredible effort."
Garland will be out for six weeks, but is focused on being ready to go for the state titles. A split decision in Sunday's clash went in favour of Higgins.
The Factory's Jye Caldwell won the 54kg division clash with Tyler Wheater.
"It was great to see so many younger boxers compete and box really well," Burton said.
Major backers of the Silver Gloves tournament were Kick Shoes, All Seasons Hotel, ERP, Hit Factory and Espress Printers.
"Silver Gloves will be back next year," Burton declared.
Next major event on the Victorian Amateur Boxing Association calendar is on September 22 at Brunswick's Reggio Calabria Club.
