Gold go down again

A big crowd at the Queen Elizabeth Oval today saw the Bendigo Gold lose their fourth game in a row.

Like they did against Sandringham a fortnight earlier, the Gold charged home in the last quarter, but fell short against Collingwood as the Magpies won 13.17 (95) to 11.16 (82).

Jackson Merrett, Rick Ladson, Steven Stroobants and Jacob Thompson were the standouts for the Gold, who had trailed by 31 points during the last quarter.

Jackson Paine kicked five goals for the Magpies.

Meanwhile, in the curtain-raiser, the Bendigo Pioneers lost to the Oakleigh Chargers by 76 points in their TAC Cup match.

The Pioneers ran out of legs in the last quarter when the Chargers piled on 7.6 to no score to win 20.16 (136) to 9.6 (60).

Jesse Collins, Jake Stringer and Harry O'Meara were the standouts for the Pioneers.
