A crowd of about 300 people gathered at the Eaglehawk town hall to pay tribute to past and present service men and women.
A lone piper was the only sound that could be heard, as representatives laid wreaths around the war memorial.
Afterwards the crowd bowed their heads as a sign of respect, as the Last Post sounded.
Bendigo and District RSL secretary Paul Penno said he was thrilled with the turnout.
"We had a really healthy crowd," he said.
"I saw a lot more younger people this year.
"I think that is great reassurance for the older veterans to know they won't be forgotten."
Mr Penno also said a crowd "in excess of 400" braved cool weather to attend the Eaglehawk dawn service.

MORE than 500 people came together at Kangaroo Flat this morning to pay tribute to those who served this country.
People of all ages watched returned service men and women march along High Street to the Soldiers Memorial.
The Marist Brothers Band led the procession, followed by scouts and local schools.
Families, children and representatives from local organisations laid wreaths for those who had lost their lives on the frontline.
Kangaroo Flat RSL sub branch president Ivon Hutcheson said he was overwhelmed by the attendance.
“It is important to remember the wonderful people who have given their lives for us,” he said.
Bendigo South East teacher and current serving member of the Australian Military Glenn Ludeman addressed the crowd.
