Hundreds of people lined Pall Mall waving Australian flags handed out by SES workers before the 11am ceremony.
Ex-service men and women and their families marched down the street, before a cavalcade of cars carrying seven World War II veterans arrived to much applause from the crowd.
Bendigo Senior Secondary College students Alex Morton and Nakita Landry presented readings, and Captain Craig Powell from the Royal Australian Navy gave the special address.
Mr Powell has had two postings aboard HMAS Bendigo.
He spoke about the role the Navy played in the lead up to the famous World War I battle at Gallipoli.
He also paid tribute the millions of people that served Australia.
“They are ordinary Australians that have done extraordinary things and our nation is based on their acts,” he said.
Bendigo District RSL sub-branch president Cliff Richards said he thought the service was one of the best attended on record.
“We have a record number of marchers and the crowds are the most we’ve ever had. It’s amazing.”
Earlier today thousands gathered for the Bendigo dawn service to reflect and honour sacrifices made by Anzacs.
