Dr Napthine will instead visit the Rokewood Incident Control Centre and tour parts of Dereel, which was affected by fires yesterday.
The Age reports up to 12 properties may have been lost in the fires, which burnt out 1300 hectares during yesterday's total fire ban day.
A spokeswoman for the Premier said the meeting with City of Greater Bendigo chief executive Craig Niemann and Mayor Lisa Ruffell would be rescheduled.
“It’s been a big 12 hours,” the spokeswoman said.
She said she wasn’t sure when the meeting would be held.
“I’ll have to get more information on that,” she said.
The council intended to discuss a plan by former mayor Daryl McClure to save the historic Fortuna Villa, which is due to be auctioned April 12.
Attorney General Robert Clark will step in for the Premier at this morning’s Dja Dja Wurrung signing ceremony in Bendigo.
Comment is being sought from the City of Greater Bendigo.
