Talented teens show versatility at track

FIVE athletes from Athletics Bendigo clubs will be vying for national glory at this weekend’s Athletics Australia junior multi-event titles in Adelaide.

Action begins at 1pm tomorrow and at 9am on Sunday.

Eaglehawk clubmates Carlie Whitford, Rebekah Lock and Morgan Power will be showing their skill in the seven-discipline heptathlon.

Lock is in the under-17 event, with Power and Whitford to vie for points in the under-18 championship.

The Pryse brothers – Blake and Jemuel have also headed across to compete at the two-day meet at Santos Stadium.

Both have been in hot form this season with Bendigo Harriers.

Blake will contest the under-18 decathlon in Adelaide, with Jemuel lining up in the under-15s heptathlon.

The build-up to the AA national multi-event titles includes last weekend’s Victorian junior track and field championships at Melbourne’s Lakeside Stadium in Albert Park.

Competing in the under-18s, Whitford won gold in the 400m hurdles and triple jump finals, silver in the 200m, and bronze in the high jump and 100m hurdles.

Lock was fourth in the under-18s 400m, while Power achieved fourth placing in the under-18 high jump and sixth in the 800m.
