The Holmes family are raising money for the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave, with the event taking place next Sunday at the Harcourt Market at 1pm.
Michelle said the family knew of people in the community who had battled the illness and were excited about taking part in the event.
“It is a great cause and really hope to make some sort of impact,” she said.
Garry said it was important that people took part in events such as the World’s Greatest Shave.
“You only have to look at the website to find out that the money raised from this fund-raiser is the half the amount used to fund research into the disease, it is very important,” he said,
Garry said the family had originally aimed at raising $600 but that target had been increased since they first registered.
“We hope to raise the target amount even more over the next few days,” he said.
“We have received donations from family, friends and work collegues,” Garry said.
