Pools and lakes across the region will be swamped with people looking to cool off with temperatures to rise sharply across Victoria after tomorrow.
The mercury in the Bendigo region will hit 40 degrees by Friday and hover there until at least Monday.
Temperatures in the central, north central and Mallee districts will also soar with Kerang expected to reach 42 degrees on Friday and 43 on Monday.
The predicted heatwave has prompted warnings from a variety of agencies including Ambulance Victoria, who warn residents to avoid heat exhaustion by drinking more water.
The CFA has also warned residents and travellers yesterday to know what fire restrictions were in place.
"There is potential for a total fire ban on Friday," the spokesperson said.
"Holiday-makers, campers especially, should also be aware of the fire danger rating and what is going on in the area they're travelling to."
The fire danger rating for much of Victoria today is very high.
