I ATTENDED the meeting at the Golden Square Football Club on Monday evening and must congratulate Mr Patrick Jess for his attendance, unlike our elected representatives who, like Pontius Pilate, have washed their hands and did not appear.

It’s a pity the information on the closure was not advertised prior to the recent election when residents could have asked the opinion of candidates.
The closure is basically based on economic outcomes, with a cost of $2 million to reconstruct the pool, which has a number of WorkSafe Provisional Improvement Notices issued. Notices which Mr Jess will provide to the meeting, hopefully by next Monday, December 10 at 7.30pm GSFC rooms.
The meeting decided to push ahead with a public petition which will be made available throughout Golden Square.
Anyone wanting to join the fight to save the pool can go online or give me a call on 54411180 if they want to sign the petition.
It is clear that unless the residents of Golden Square make a stand on the pool being closed it will be lost forever.
The other question I would ask, is why didn’t the Committee of Management of the Sporting Reserve at Golden Square oppose the closure when contacted by the council?
