Walsh blitzes in triathlon showdown

THE rapidly improving Fraser Walsh smashed his personal best time as he raced to victory in Saturday’s morning second round in the Villawood Summer Series run by the Bendigo Triathlon Club.Walsh won the 400m swim, 15km cycle and 4km run at Eaglehawk in a time of 48.49 minutes.Runner-up was Jason Hewitt, 54.11, as Andrew Mason fought on to be third in 53.25.Fastest time honours went to Victorian Institute of Sport development squad members James Chronos, 45.14, and Noeleen Byrne, 57.11.Lisa Parkinson took out the short course in fine style followed by Tim Lovell and Damian Hughes.
