Wilkinson qualified in 18th position for round six of the series at Oulton Park, but a slow start from the fifth row meant he slipped to 20th place by lap three of the 12-lap race.
However, Wilkinson began to gradually move through the field during the final three laps and crossed the line in 14th position to earn two valuable championship points.
“(It was) A good weekend for me. I qualified 18th which I was happy with and confident of a good race,” Wilkinson said after the race.
“I made a poor start to the race which made it difficult for me.
“I put my head down and chipped away back inside the points to take 14th. Still inside the points and really positive lap times.
“Thanks to the entire Seton Tuning Yamaha team for their efforts this weekend. They put in masses of work for me and the bike was brilliant in the race.”
Wilkinson has now finished 14th, 10th and 15th in his past three races and will take his good form to the Brands Hatch GP for round seven of 12 this weekend.
“I’m really looking forward to Brands GP, another new track for me. so I’m excited to get there,” Wilkinson said.
