Skip Rhonda Ballard led her team of Lorna Dunn, Alma Gray and Gwen Campbell to a 17-15 win against Ocean Grove at the Bendigo East Bowls Club.
Cohuna won through to the final after an 18-14 result against Glenroy in the semi-finals.
The men’s fours team from Tongala, representing the Bendigo Campaspe region, was narrowly defeated 14-13 by Mildura Workingman’s in its final.
Tongala’s team of skip Michael Humphreys and Barry, Keith and Geoff Tinning had defeated Geelong West 20-13 in the semi-final earlier in the day.
Kyneton’s women’s triples team faced a difficult challenge in its final against a highly-talented Sunbury team – led by Australian player Carla Odgers – and they were defeated 26-5.
Christine Plowman, Josie Turner and skip Desma Budd performed brilliantly to make the decider, after they secured a 17-16 win against Yarrawonga Mulawala Resort in their semi-final.
The men’s triples state final was taken out by Essendon in a tense 15-14 win against Bundoora RSL.
Central Wendouree’s Colin Johnson and skip Greg Brown are into today’s champions of champions pairs semi-finals after winning both their matches yesterday.
Johnson and Brown defeated Castlemaine team Peter Brain and Ray Noble 17-11 in the last 16, before accounting for Yarram Country Club 24-11 in the quarter-finals.
They will play Hastings’ George Pavlovski and Alan Worthington this morning, while Bundoora RSL is one of the teams through to the other men’s semi-final.
City of Echuca’s team was defeated in the quarter-finals of the women’s pairs 21-17 by Shepparton Park.
Echuca’s Melissa Larcombe and skip Veronica Kelly had a winning start to the day after they beat Daylesford’s Tanya Hearn and Donna Robinson 21-19 in the last 16.
Shepparton Park will play Lalor in a semi-final this morning, while Clayton and Bundoora RSL will compete for the other place in the decider after both teams recorded comfortable quarter-final wins yesterday.
The men’s singles and womens’ champions of champions singles last 16 and quarter-finals will also be played at Bendigo East Bowls Club today.
