A REJUVENATED senior competition will start in tomorrow night’s APCO Bendigo Water Polo action at the Bendigo Aquatic Centre.Late last year, the Bendigo Water Polo committee agreed to extend the men’s competition from three teams to four by including some of the more experienced female players in what will now be known as the senior competition.A separate women’s pennant will still be run at the Barnard Street pool.Because of the increase to four teams some players have been allocated to different teams than what they were playing with before the Christmas-New Year break.Organisers are confident the re-allocation and addition of more experienced female players will result in an even four-team competition.Round one of the new eight-week competition will start this Thursday night at 7pm.Grand final night will be on March 25.The new team lists ─Stingrays: Nick Gates (captain), Bonnie Pridham, Jim Lavender, Bruce Pridham, Josh Leech, Brendon Hinck, Paul Dullard, Matt Campbell.Sharks: Damian Jennings (captain), Laura Stahl, Emma Dorrington, Dale Boyd, Josh Boyd, Ben Matthews, Viv Cossar, Mark Sanderson.Westpac: Ian Symons (captain), Bella Johnson, Jeff Swan, Nick Swan, David Symons, Adam Symons, Dan Carew, Tim Carew, James Mawby.Couttas: Dave Jansen (captain), Molly Pridham, Amy Clark, Dean Spencely, Jacob Carroll, Marcus Arandt, Luke Smart, Dylan Tonkin.Draw for this Thursday’s play in the APCO water polo action ─ 7pm, men: Sharks v Couttas; 7.45pm, women: Dolphins v Mermaids; 8.30pm, men: Stingrays v Westpac. The APCO-backed Bendigo Water Polo is aiming to field two men’s and two women’s teams at the Victoria Country championships on February 13 and 14 in Wodonga. The inaugural Victoria Country junior water polo titles will be played on the last weekend in February in Bendigo.
