Darts aces stay on target in challenge final

BENDIGO darts aces aimed for lots of bullseyes and 180s at last weekend’s State Reserve Challenge final in Dandenong.Top darts exponents from across Victoria contested the two-day event.The mixed line-up from Bendigo qualified for the state final by placing third at last month’s tournament.Bendigo stars Andrew Fairweather, Shane Broucek, Tim May, James Swan, Steve Ennor, Jennifer Ihaka, Vikki Bullock, Sheryl Palmer, Jodie Pianta and Barbara Meehan put in many hours preparing for the showdown at Dandenong.The Bendigo line-ups were in hot form at the recently-run Birchmore Painting-backed Bendigo Darts tournament at the Bendigo District RSL.Bendigo’s No.1 team of Vikki Bullock, Sue Hayes, Debi Johnson, Sheryl Palmer and Jodie Pianta won the women’s title.Runner-up was She Devils ahead of Swan Hill and Central Vic. Super League.Highest peg of 108 was achieved by Vikki Bullock, and she also had the shortest dart game of 20.An independent team from Bendigo, called Scud Chuckers, triumphed in the men’s event on home soil.The Scud Chuckers line-up of Chris Adamson, Shane Broucek, Wayne Davis, Mal Gill and Glen Wallis led the standings from Wedderwangs, Eureka Highlands and Steve’s Shed.The in-form Broucek won all 11 singles matches he contested.Paul Biff had the highest peg of 142, and the shortest dart game was won by Herb Moore on 12.
