Huntly rules in battle of girls' football league's top two

THE Huntly Hawks soared to a 25-point victory in Sunday’s battle with Marong in the Bendigo Youth Girls’ Football League.Marong had home-ground advantage as the competition’s top two clashed at Malone Park.The Panthers led by a point at half-time, but the Hawks scored 2.2 to just two points in the the third quarter.Led by the play of Breanna Gaylor, Ruby Campbell and Kristy White, the Hawks kicked away to win the contest, 6.6 (42) to 2.5 (17).The Hawks leading goalkicker was Brittany Tancred on two.In the earlier match, North Bendigo dominated against Eaglehawk.Playing in her 50th match, Danni Thompson kicked six goals in North Bendigo’s 75-point victory.Best for the red, white and blue were Krystal Fisher, Cassie Robertson and Lisa Tierney.Scores from Sunday’s round 11 matches at Marong’s Malone Park:Huntly 1.1 2.2 4.4 6.6 (42)Marong 1.2 2.3 2.5 2.5 (17)GOALS - Huntly: Brittany Tancred 2, Kaitlyn McIntosh, Loren Mosetter, Katrina Whittle, Raquel Howie.
