Carlton kicks in for kids

CARLTON Football Club has opened its doors for tomorrow’s visit by a group of central Victorian children.Many of the children, aged 7 to 15 years, were affected by the Black Saturday bushfires, and will have a chance to tour Visy Park, and meet some of the Blues’ stars, including senior coach Brett Ratten.Key players in organising the tour to the Blues’ headquarters were the Bendigo Bank Pioneers Football Club and McKern Steel.“The trip is a special opportunity for these children,” said Cindy McGregor from the Long Gully Neighbourhood Centre.“Not only is it a chance to have a great day our, but I’m sure there will be plenty of tips and advice to take home with them.“The work of Michael McKern from McKern and Ray and Leigh Byrne from the Bendigo Pioneers in organising the day is greatly appreciated.”Jo McGann of St Luke’s also praised the initative.“It’s wonderful to see the community support its young people, and I know the children are really excited about the trip.”
