SHANNON Grant has been reappointed coach of the Bendigo Bank Bombers for the 2011 VFL season. In his first season, Grant took the club from last on the VFL ladder in 2009 to a finals appearance this season with a 10-8 win-loss ratio across the home and away matches.Grant was reappointed despite his mid-season indiscretion when he was arrested for being drunk in a public place.Bendigo Bombers general manager Peter Lodewijks said the board had no hesitation in endorsing the re-appointment of Grant.“Shannon came to the Bendigo Bombers with a plan to take this club forward on the field and he certainly lived up to our expectations this year,” Lodewijks said.“It’s not just the fact that he coached the team into a finals series in his first season as coach, but along the way he’s earned the respect of the players and everyone associated with the club.“The 2010 season had to be the start of a new era for our club and we needed a coach who recognised the challenges we were facing, who could implement our new football model and who could instil renewed confidence into the players.“Virtually from the first training session, Shannon ticked every box because he knew what the club wanted and was prepared to work hard to achieve the objectives we had set.“We’re delighted to have him on board again and he’s already planning for season 2011.”
