KANGAROO Flat speedster Adam Burns will again captain Bendigo at next year’s Melbourne Country Cricket Week.Burns will lead a squad which has many contesting Country Week for the first time.The BDCA’s campaign in Provincial group hits off against Murray Valley on February 13 at Coburg.After a three-year stint as selector, Max Taylor is coach for the 2012 campaign.The 14-man squad is vastly different to the one which played a year ago.“We have at least seven players heading to Country Week for the first time,” Taylor said.Young guns in the BDCA squad include Strathdale-Maristians clubmates Jono Davidson and Andrew Chalkley, Kangaroo Flat’s Brent Hamblin, and Bendigo United’s Miggy Podosky.The consistency of White Hills all-rounder and co-coach Aaron Monro earned selection, while Kangaroo Flat veteran Brad Orton will again play a key role with the bat.Bendigo’s squad:Adam Burns (captain, Kangaroo Flat); Ben DeAraugo (vice-captain, Strathdale-Maristians: Travis King, Jono Davidson, Dom Taylor, Andrew Chalkley, Cameron Taylor, Linton Jacobs (Strathdale-Maristians); Aaron Monro (White Hills); Brad Orton, Brent Hamblin (Kangaroo Flat); Sam Johnston (Huntly-North Bendigo); Richard Tibbett (Eaglehawk); and Miggy Podosky (Bendigo United).Bendigo’s draw in Provincial group at Melbourne Country Cricket Week:Monday, February 13: v Murray Valley at Coburg.Tuesday, February 14: v Geelong at Melton.Wednesday, February 15: v Traralgon at Junction Oval, St Kilda.Thursday, February 16: v Mornington Peninsula at Balwyn.Provincial group final on Friday, February 17 will be at The Albert or Camberwell.
