BDCA to tackle local rivals

THE Bendigo District Cricket Association will play arch-rival Ballarat this Sunday for the Turner-Hollioake Shield.For the senior side, it will be the final warm-up for next month’s Melbourne Country Week carnival.Kangaroo Flat all-rounder Adam Burns will captain a new-look Bendigo representative squad.Burns, Ben De Araugo, Brad Orton, Brent Hamblin and Richard Tibbett are the only players to have played in a Melbourne Country Week carnival.Strathdale duo Andy Chalkley and Jon Davidson and Huntly-North Bendigo’s Sam Johnston are among a group of in-form players that have been rewarded with Country Week selection for the first time.BDCA squads for games against Ballarat in Ballarat this Sunday.
