BENDIGO made the headlines for all the wrong reasons yesterday when Sparrowhawk Road was defaced with a green penis outline on Google’s Street View. The image went viral as news outlets reported that pranksters had been playing tricks on Google’s Street View cameras ever since the mapping tool was launched in 2007.The Street View images of Long Gully and Maiden Gully were defaced with a giant green penis outline after vandals climbed on top of one of Google’s camera-equipped cars and drew the penis on its camera lens. The find was first discovered by users on BuzzFeed and has since gone viral across the web.Google Australia has yet to remove the images or make a comment on the matter – and it is not clear who is responsible.Bendigo police Sergeant Mark Holloway said it was a difficult offence to follow up and police were yet to have any reports from “Mr Google”.Earlier this year another Street View penis prank was discovered in New Zealand. An array of six penises was discovered etched into the grass of a school in Waikato in June.
