THE rich symbolism and many contradictions of the colour red have been captured by a local artist with a passion for the colour. The red creation by Robbie Buckman is part of the One Woman One Colour exhibition, where 13 female artists from the region are allocated a colour, then create art representing its natural associations and its symbolism.Ms Buckman, a self-confessed ``red girl'', said that she was pleased when allocated the colour for the exhibition a year ago."I was happy. I'm a red girl. I wear red all the time Even my wedding dress was red," she said."When I was looking at what the colour red meant, I thought it was funny that it had so many contradictions. As a Libran, you see the many sides of things."Her installation, Blood Red-The Red Room, which is on display at the Visual Arts Centre Access Gallery, is a creation with sharp lighting and shadow that captures the emotion and contradictions of red.Ms Buckman's work, which took five weeks to create, is on display at the centre from Wednesday until Sunday.
