ST LUKE’S Innovative Resources will donate resources to New Zealand psychologists to help with the counselling of Christchurch earthquake victims. The resource packs will be sent to the STOP Children and Adolescent Programs in Christchurch, whose premises were condemned following the earthquake that reached a magnitude of 7.1 on September 4.The program has used St Luke’s resources in the past, finding the Cars ‘R’ Us cards and the Strength Cards to be beneficial, but psychologists cannot access their resources because the building is inaccessible.St Luke’s Innovative Resources general manager Noel Hobley said senior clinical psychologist Roxie Orr, of Wellington, asked the Bendigo-based organisation for help after attending a St Luke’s workshop earlier this year.Mr Hobley said the resources would help children and teenagers to talk about their emotions and help them to read other people’s feelings.“We were happy to send the resources,’’ he said.“What they experienced is something you can’t imagine. ‘‘It’s been a shock to all of them, especially with the kinds of programs they run with adolescents who are already struggling with what life throws at them.’’
