A KANGAROO Flat man is accused of stabbing eight car tyres with a knife in Castlemaine at the weekend. Sergeant Nicky Goodison of Castlemaine police said the incident took place in the early hours of yesterday morning. Police estimate the damage bill will be $1200. Sergeant Goodison said the 29-year-old was arrested at 3.30am in relation to criminal damage.She said the man was drunk when arrested and spent time in custody before being interviewed.The man was later released and has been bailed to appear in the Castlemaine Magistrates Court in February. Sergeant Goodison said the man would face charges relating to criminal damage, possessing a weapon and being drunk. Meanwhile, two central Victorian drivers had their licences suspended in the early hours of yesterday. A 38-year-old Yapeen man was pulled over for a routine check at 1.30am in Doveton Street, Castlemaine. He recorded a blood-alcohol reading of .12, and his licence was suspended for 12 months. Sergeant Goodison said another motorist was caught drink-driving. She said a 61-year-old man from Strathdale was found in his car by police at the side of the Newstead/Creswick Road in Sandon at 4.45am.His licence was suspended for six months. Sergeant Goodison said the man was sitting in his car and recorded a blood-alcohol reading of .09.
