More than 30 positions at Don KRC in Castlemaine have been made redundant.Don KRC, a division of George Weston Foods, today announced changes to its operations and logistics functions which will result in 31 roles “no longer being required” from March onwards.Don KRC managing director Stuart Grainger said the company would look to redeploy staff but some redundancies would be “inevitable”. Mr Grainger blamed the redundancies on rising input costs.“Despite significant increases in costs of raw materials, labour and energy, smallgoods prices have not increased for three years,” he said.“For example, pre-pack ham is now substantially cheaper than it was in 2009.”Don KRC has its main manufacturing facility in Castlemaine where it employs more than 1,200 people. It also has operations in Gigarre and Serpentine.More to come
