Four held on freeway

THREE men and a woman stole goods valued at about $2000 in Bendigo on Saturday, police say.Two men from the Shepparton area and a man and woman from Coburg were spotted after a laptop computer was stolen from Clive Peeters in Bendigo.They were caught on the Calder Freeway in Elphinstone by Malmsbury police. Sergeant Nicky Goodison from Castlemaine police said police found other stolen goods including cosmetics, power tools, cameras and whisky.She said the four alleged offenders were taken to Castlemaine police station, and were interviewed by Castlemaine and Malmsbury police, and the operational response unit, about the theft and handling stolen goods. Sergeant Goodison said they were in an unregistered vehicle with false number plates, and a 30-year-old man from Shepparton was unlicensed. They were charged and will appear in the Castlemaine Magistrates Court on June, 18. She said all were known to police. Sergeant Goodison asked people who believed the stolen property might be theirs to contact police.She asked anyone with information about the thefts to contact Castlemaine police on 5472 2099.Meanwhile, drugs valued at up to $500 are believed to have been stolen from the Heathcote Pharmacy just after 10pm on Saturday. Sergeant John Olver of Heathcote police urged witnesses to call 5433 3711 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
