The annual fundraiser event, which is in its fourth year in Bendigo, celebrates Mother's Day by raising funds for breast cancer research.
Bendigo Mother's Day Classic organiser Vicki Harrington said they had recorded their highest number of registrations yet.
"We had 1300 people that registered online and there was easily another 350 who registered this morning," she said.
"We have a lot of people who fundraise and some who have sponsors for the day.
"All the money raised goes to the National Breast Cancer Foundation towards research and to help find a cure."
Entrants took part in two four and eight kilometre running events. The first eight kilometre event kicked off at 8am and the four kilometre event at 9am.
Ms Harrington said the Mother's Day Classic had long been a tradition of hers on Mother's Day and she was pleased others were getting involved.
"We're starting to see a lot of familiar faces," she said.
"They come as groups and as families and I think its a lovely thing to do on Mother's Day.
"It's nice to do it together and I think mothers appreciate spending that time together above all the material things these days."
