A man has faced court following the death of newsagent Garry Angus.Antony Duguid of Bendigo is charged with one count of murder.He appeared at the Bendigo court this afternoon.The 46-year-old made no application for bail and was remanded in police custody.Duguid was arrested by members of the homicide squad about 8am today.He is the son of Olympic boxing great Des Duguid, who passed away in 2008.EarlierTHE people Garry Angus loved the most were in shock yesterday as they tried to come to terms with his tragic and untimely death.Today, they reflect on a man who loved life, worked hard and always put his family first.GARRY John Angus was born on March 18, 1962. He is the second child of Keith and Elaine Angus. Garry grew up in Mulgrave, attending St John Vianney’s Primary School, Springvale, and Clayton Technical School. He briefly moved to Ballarat in 1980 when his family moved there but soon returned to Melbourne.It was while Garry was working at Randall’s Supermarket in Bentleigh East that he met and fell in love with the love of his life, Jenny Brice. They dated for four years before marrying in March 1990. Garry and Jenny ran a mixed business in Ballarat with Garry’s parents before venturing into newsagency ownership in Central Square Ballarat. In 1993 Garry and Jenny became the proud parents of Belinda and in 1995 son Tim was born, completing their family. Garry and Jenny came to Bendigo in January 1996, taking over the Pall Mall Newsagency. Together they have worked the business seven days a week as well as running a stall at the Sunday market. Their two children, Belinda and Tim, help out in the business when needed.Garry was a passionate man in all aspects of his life. While he worked very hard ensuring his business was successful, his family was always his number one priority. Enjoying quality family time was of great importance to Garry, annual family holidays were taken to various destinations across Australia. His love of horses was also a major part of his life. Throughout the years Garry enjoyed owning and racing thoroughbred horses and trotters and had considerable success within both codes of racing. Most recently Garry was ecstatic when Way In The Black won twice in a row.Garry was a popular bloke who will be missed terribly by all who knew him and loved him.
