UPDATE: A man has been taken for questioning after an alleged shot was fired in Happy Valley Road this morning.Police closed Happy Valley Road minutes ago, issuing a warrant to arrest a man who returned to the property shortly after 12noon.The City of Greater Bendigo and Beck Legal have reopened for business following the saga.Earlier, the City of Greater Bendigo was in lockdown after reports a shot was fired in Happy Valley Road this morning.Security guards were placed outside all council buildings, advising no one is to leave or enter any of the premises.Hargreaves Street law firm Beck Legal was also in lockdown. The moves followed an incident this morning where a process worked believed to be serving eviction papers for failing to pay council rates arrived at the property about 9.15am and allegedly heard a shot before fleeing the scene. It is believed the person at the property also left before police arrived.City of Greater Bendigo chief executive Craig Niemann said the move to close all council buildings was a precaution."We are making sure we look after the safety and well-being of the staff,'' he said."The safety of the staff is paramount.''Mr Niemann asked residents to avoid council offices while police handle the situation.Beck Legal director Geoff Bowyer said the decision was made after they were told one of their process servers attended a property and a gun was discharged.“On the basis of that we have locked our front door and are only admitting people based on identification processes,” he said.“We have also notified everyone in our arcade of the risk.“Given our Occupational Health and Safety obligations we have taken the necessary steps.”More details to come.
