Staff at its Bendigo branch were informed at 7.30am about the engineering service company's collapse.
Manager Ron Moss said he was forced to tell all 30 full-time staff the news.
"It's been an unenviable task," he said.
"I just received a letter this morning and had to tell the staff.
"A lot of the team have been here for the whole four years, when the branch started in Bendigo."
Mr Moss said he was waiting to hear more from administrators but expected all staff would finish up within two weeks.
Administrators PPB Advisory said 2,700 Australian jobs are on hold after the collapse of the company.
The Hastie Group employs more than 7,000 people worldwide with 4,000 in Australia.
An estimated debt of $500 million forced the company into administration.
