Bendigo boy bashed in street

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a 12-year-old boy riding his scooter along an Epsom street last week was seriously assaulted.It is believed a man jumped from a vehicle and chased two 12-year-old boys on scooters, along Kennewell Street last Wednesday.The man then assaulted one of the boys, causing severe cuts and bruising.Sergeant Brad Towers from the Bendigo Criminal Investigation Unit said the man was a passenger in a white Holden Commodore sedan, which parked opposite the boys about 7pm. Sergeant Towers said that after assaulting one of the boys, the man got back into the vehicle and left the scene.Police say witnesses saw up to four people yelling from the vehicle before the assault.The boys were traumatised and frightened by the attack, police said.The injured 12-year-old sought medical treatment for his injuries after the attack.The age and the description of the attacker and those in the vehicle are not known.
