Walsh, a multiple premiership coach with Golden Square, was yesterday announced as the replacement for co-coaches Nathan Thompson and Derrick Filo.
The former Carlton and Essendon rover hasn't coached senior football in Bendigo since departing Golden Square in 2002.
He had short, unsuccessful coaching stints with White Hills in the HDFL and Campbells Creek in the MCDFL before pulling the pin on coaching in 2008.
"I've got the passion for coaching back,'' Walsh said.
"The last three years I've been working on radio covering the footy and that's helped me get the passion for coaching again.
"I've seen a lot of Bendigo footy in the past three years and I have no doubt that I can still coach as well as anyone.
"I know Kyneton is coming from a long way back, but I'm looking forward to it."
